Keith has had an interest in music since a young age. He has played flute, Percussion and Bass guitar, and is self-studying six string guitar, and drum kit. He is also a direct descendent of August (Gus) Helmecke a pioneer of bass Drumming and member of John Philip Sousa’s band. 

Keith started out playing town fests and small bars in Media, PA. Besides just classic rock his fascination for indigenous and primordial African music also Jam bands led him to the drum. He first studied the drum with Rosario Carelli, a direct student of the late Babatunde Olatunji. Keith attended Babatunde’s Dance Pray Drum for Peace in Washington DC before relocating to North Carolina in 1997. Keith has drummed with Diali Cissokho African Grio of the local band Kaira ba at Shakori Hills, local drum circles, and African Dance classes. Keith attended David Fishoff’s Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp, as seen on the Amazon film rockcamp.com. Keith learned under counselor Dr. Lo Faber founding member of the NY jam Band God Street Wine. Also performed with Robert Randolph of Robert Randolph Family band, John Scofield jazz guitar great formerly with Miles Davis and Phil Lesh of The Grateful Dead. Keith also met and played on sound check with Mickey Hart, a big influence on his drumming. Keith’s love and knowledge for classic rock has also brought him to meet the likes of Crosby, Stills, & Nash, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Shawn Colvin, Bruce Hornsby, Jon Anderson, Rick Wakeman, Mick Fleetwood, Martin Barre, Alice Cooper, Jeff Labar, Jay Davidson, and The African Show Boyz.
